Fear Journal

My I was younger, there were a few things that I was scared of. One of these things was getting lost. My family and I would visit my grandparents who lived on a huge farm surrounded by woods. All of my cousins loved to go exploring in the woods and I would go with them. We would walk to the forest and everyone would be happy and excited about all the fun we were about to have. I would be just as excited as them until I could no longer see the enterance to the forest. Then my fear would set in . I never wanted to let my older cousins find out that I was afraid so I would remain in the woods and try to stay as close to them as possible until we finally decided to leave. I remember always taking a sigh of relief when we got back to my grandparent's house because I had gotten back without getting lost. Looking back at the situation, I realize that my fear was completly unjustified because I would never have gotten lost with my cousins, but like the boys in the Lord of the Flies, I let my fear consume me.
